Drawing and Painting Techniques

Relax as you discover your creative side in this extremely popular course as you learn how to use a variety of mediums including pencils, pens, pen and wash, acrylics and watercolours, as well as information on the correct brushes and paper to use with each medium. You will gain knowledge on the basics principles of design and explore and develop your skills with colour as you experiment with a variety of different techniques. Newcomers are very welcome to join the more experienced students in these relaxed and friendly classes.


You will learn basic drawing techniques and the use of different pencils and papers.

Outcomes/ Benefits

You will become familiar with the technicalities of drawing and explore a variety of painting mediums and using different tools and techniques to their best advantage. You will develop your personal observational skills and achieve a growth in awareness and appreciation of many aspects of the visual world that most take for granted. This will enable you to achieve a personal ability to successfully share your interpretations of the visual world through individual graphic expression.

  • A3 Drawing Pad.
  • 2B Pencil.
  • 2H Pencil.
  • Eraser.
  • Pencil Sharpener.

Further requirements will be discussed in class during the first session.

If you have already been attending these classes, bring equipment you have previously been using. New students who are not beginners, please bring any materials you may already have and some of your previous work.
